YITL 11

Here's my take on the word for this week. Sorry to be using yet another photo of myself and DH, haha! I've had this photo lying around for quite some time (test print from my new photo printer) so I finally decided to just use it.

Sorry, i'm feeling kinda cheesy today! haha! got a portion of the lyrics from a Frank Sinatra song...

shopping. shopping. shopping.

amen. what was supposed to have been a day of cropping turned out to be a day of shopping. for me, at least. ha! there were just too many tempting goodies in Vivian's store to allow me to sit still! ack! there goes the house fund! hehehe. Well, I actually tried to work on a page, I just didn't quite stick anything down until today.

Met up with Babette at around lunch time and we stayed til closing time. Yup, there simply seemed to have been no end to the long line of shoppers! We then decided to grab dinner at Mr Choi Kitchen just before we split up. Thanks for the ride, Babette!

first assignment

Part of my commitment as DT for Studio Azul is to come up with at least 4 pages and an altered item or card from their monthly kits.

Here's what I have using the very yummy, romantic Feb kit.

As soon as I got my photos picked out, working with this kit was such a breeze! *wink!!*

it is that time of the month again

well, I'm kinda posting this late :) as this month's Scrapbytes issue actually went up several days ago. I was asked to write about using up one's brad stash. uhm, don't keep your hopes up, it's quite a straightforward article only, as I couldn't rack my brain for any more ideas! hahaha! Please do let me know if you discover more ways to use up your own stash! *wink!*

Also featured in this month's issue is the Round Robin (a.k.a. LO Tag) Challenge which I, uh, kinda initiated sometime in October. Yup, it has taken this long for us to have the Reveal as there were quite a number of girls who joined! It's fun to see and read about the transition of the pages! Definitely something worth doing over!

Here's the simple page I came up with:

and it ended up looking fabulous! :) check out Ria's page here. Who would've imagined, huh? Only a bunch of talented ladies, that's who! *wink!*

cards for a cause

decided to attend and make 10 cards for the Scrap, Share and Shop fundraiser event for the Carmelite sisters of Tarlac last Saturday.

for this batch, I actually took the easy way out by doing a production line for the same design :)

i'm glad i went although i didn't really do anything much, haha! i simply had a great time checking out the suppliers and watching Lee in action during the auction ;) (you were a great auctioneer, Lee! more! more!)

I got a few stuff from the suppliers, but I'm glad I didn't break the bank with my purchases this time around! HAHA! what do you know, I even won a Studio Azul Pink Hawaii kit! fun!!

i wasn't planning on bidding on anything, but nobody wanted to get the paper kit from SU, so without thinking, I just raised my hand. It's for a good cause anyways and the opening bid price was pretty reasonable. I just hope I can use it for something *wink* it was a shame to see a brand new Cricut go for peanuts :( I had hoped that it would actually fetch a lot more than the opening bid of $85. I just hope the person who managed to take it home will put it to good use :)

I actually wouldn't have gone, if it weren't for my good friend Babette. Good thing she also opted to go! It was great hanging out with you! And of course, thanks so much for the ride!

it's a tag!

just been tagged by the uber talented MM Master Iris So... here are some trivia about me:

1. I used to be a hotel food and beverage manager, but I don't really cook! :o
2. I have built up quite a collection of recipe books which are obviously gathering dust (refer to #1 above)
3. I am almost always in front of my computer, I usually end up sleeping beside it! (much to DH's dismay!)
4. I hardly remove my contact lenses and can go days/weeks without doing so!
5. I have a digital SLR but almost always end up using the auto mode only
6. I am currently a lecturer/teacher, but i hardly ever tutor my own kids!
7. i pay for gym membership which i hardly ever use!

Let's now tag: Suzanne, Tin, Babette, Catherine, Rachel, Denise, Chrissy

week 2

challenge at Ittybitty has just been concluded. The page requirements were:
4 photos on a 1-page LO
Rub-ons
Bling
At least 3 different patterned papers
Ribbon in a creative way

Here's what I worked on like crazy last Wednesday evening ;)

None too happy with that rub on peeking out from the top. HAHA! I originally intended for it to somehow line up with the first photo but for some reason, I couldn't angle all the other photos along with it. So.... I was stuck and just did what I had to do. Blah blah blah. Never mind! ;)

Here's my take on the ribbon challenge. Got the idea from Martha Bonneau

DDD challenge 4

Time for fun over at Bad Girls! This time around, it's a spelling challenge and the word is: BAD GIRLS. Each letter of the word is used to represent products, techniques, colours, whatever, to create a page! Here's what I came up with during the SE mini crop last Saturday:

B - buttons
A - Autumn Leaves paper
D - distressing technique
G - gold star
I - inking technique
R - rub ons
L - lace cardstock (uhm, i couldn't think of what to use anymore, haha!)
S - stickers

all supplies, except for the bit of lace cardstock, from the Studio Azul December kit.

Saturday Mini Crop

HAHA! that 'mini' in the title is kind of like an overstatement! Only a few SE girls (myself included) were able to work on some pages; I think the mini crop at at Nette's (MLA/Scrapbooks Hawaii) was more like an excuse to shop!!! HAHAHA!!! Girls spent most of the day milling around the scrappy stuff on display. Lots of bargain finds! Got myself a set of FP 12x12 stamps at 40% off! Gotta love that! I picked up a few things here and there as well. Oh, but it was a fun opportunity to see and chat with some friends! Oh and YAY! I won a set of Inque Boutique stamps which Nette raffled off!! Yum!

Thanks to Cabbie, Donna, and Candy, for the wonderful demos! Here I snapped up a photo from Cabbie's blog (because I can see myself behind her! HAHA!)

chanced upon a new scrappy site sometime last week and decided to give their challenge a try. Specifically, we were supposed to use only 1 cardstock, 2 patterned papers, a set of alphas, and buttons. Here's what I came up with

my self-declared V-day gift!

I have been considering getting myself a photo printer for the longest time now, as I've been fed up with the quality of prints I've been getting from both my HP printers. Naturally, I gravitated towards an Epson brand this around all thanks to the positive feedback i've been getting, but I have obviously not been too keen enough, until now! ;) OK, Cabbie's post just pushed me over the edge! I decided it's finally time to get it. All of last week, I went and scoured all the shops at Town and at the Southmall, but I simply could not find the printer in stock! Dang, dang, dang! I kept getting the same answer: they'd have to special order it for me and it would take anywhere from 3 - 7 days to get it, that is if their supplier had it in stock! But..... I wanted that printer now!!!

Earlier this evening, I finally asked Cabbie where her DH was able to score one. Ding, ding, ding!!! Octagon in Megamall, hmm? Since Tubbyboy was somewhere in the vicinity of Makati, I had the crazy idea of actually asking him to go and get me one. OK maybe that was not such a hot idea. I don't think he'd relish driving through traffic just to get me a printer he doesn't want me to be buying anyways. So, my next plan was to call the store and ask if they would so kindly ship the printer to their branch in Southmall. My patience was so sorely tested just trying to get a number for Octagon. In the end, I succeeded! So I dial the correct number only to be crest-fallen as they didn't have it in stock anymore! Boohoo! I call the MOA branch, no luck! My last resort was to call their branch in Festival. Oh, I got lucky!!! They had it! I had it reserved but was told that I had to get it tonight! Time check: 8PM! Cool! Plenty of time to change and get there! And now.... it's finally sitting pretty in my room. I just did a test print and guess who's smiling like a cheshire cat now? ;D

challenges galore

Since I've resolved to create more this year, I've decided to join several challenges to keep my scrap motivation going! =D

last weekend, my friend, babette, dropped by so we could 'play'! and she was able to work on some cards and tags. I, on the other hand, was not able to get anything done at all! i just couldn't get my papers together! ack! good thing i was already able to work on a my pages for coordinates collections' Scrapping with the Stars 1st challenge.

we were to derive inspiration from Ali Edwards and
Mahlin Andersson, one of Coordinates Collections' DT members.

Hmmm... this round really had me thinking, haha! I waited until the last minute and finally came up with these:

supplies: bazzill cs, scenic route paper, 7G gaffer tape and stickers, stamps (fontwerks, everyday beauty, stamped in ink), ink pads (Versafine and Colorbox), staples, zig pen

supplies: (from Scarlet Lime's January kit) scenic route and Ki memories papers, ki memories sticker, felt butterfly, buttons; (from my stash) hs flower, autumn leaves chipboard journaling spot, AC thickers chipboard alpha stickers, zig and sharpie pens

This morning, I came upon Suzanne's YITL card challenges. It practically just started and right now, it's still fairly easy to catch up! I decided to take the plunge! What a great way to use up some stash and lessen my piles of photos, even! *wink!*

Here's what I have so far
YITL 1 - resolve

YITL 2 - winter

YITL 3 - blue

YITL 4 - proud

YITL 5 - red

YITL 6 - love
