scrapping, shopping, scrapbukan!

Nothing beats this combination on a saturday :)

SE girls started the day off by swiping goodies from shelves and racks, haha!! It was a good thing I managed to arrive in time to snag some goodies of my own.

I was also fortunate enough to be assigned to table #4 where Mia, Joanne, and Candy were seated. These girls were loaded with scrap stuff! Read on and you'll find out why this was 'crucial'.

Each group was asked to come up with a group shot for the group LO competition that was scheduled after lunch. Here's our cute photo *wink* Thanks! to Jeff Lopez! for patiently waiting while we did some acrobatics just to find the perfect pose!
(oops, i have yet to insert the photo here)

A scavenger hunt was up next and everybody scrambled to find various scrap stuff. What a way to keep our adrenalin up, huh? Haha! First 2 groups to complete their lists get to win goodies! Guess who the first group was? :)

Turns out, the stuff we managed to find would be the supplies we were supposed to use for the group LO competition. Nobody was allowed to use any other supplies except for ink and stamps! Oi vey, we got that covered! Thanks to Mia!

Mia was quick to come up with a sketch which we worked on. Everybody else cut and inked stuff. Here are my teammates happily putting things together. Paper-cutting prowess? CHECK. Joanne and Candy did the trick!

Here's a slightly hazy image of the LOs everybody came up with:

Winners were announced and prizes were handed out in the form of a license to shop some more!!! FUN! Table 4 (that's us!) bagged the top prize! I even got another yummy treat! A 12x12 album and a kit from the raffle prizes being handed out! Needless to say, I was grinning from ear to ear! Thanks to Liza and to Iris for serendipitously (is this even a word? :) calling Rizalee Imao) picking my name out!

Thanks, Sahrie! for a fun event! Congrats on Scrapbukan's 3rd year!

to add to my growing stamp collection! :) I'm so excited to have snagged a rare, retired SU stamp!!! Never mind that I haven't slept a wink just to guard my bid, hahaha!!!

well wishes

DH left for Bacolod today so he could visit his dad who has been in and out of the hospital for several months now :( It's also a timely visit as his mom is celebrating her birthday on thursday. I decided to make a get well soon card for my FIL and a birthday card for my MIL - unfortunately, I wasn't able to make these in time for DH's departure, so I'm guessing I'll just have to mail them tomorrow...

GET WELL SOON card
Supplies: Regular CS; PP: Foofala; STAMP: Stampin' Up; BRADS: Creative Imaginations; INK PADS: Colorbox and Versa; OTHER: ribbon.
I mounted the stamped image on foam tape for some dimension.

bad girls class 2

I had the privilege of moving on to the next class (a.k.a. challenge round) at Bad Girls, which is all about adding texture and dimension to LOs and naturally, the 'assignment' for this week is to incorporate as much texture as possible into a page. ACK! This has got to be my Achilles' heel! Hmmm... Yesterday, I had the chance to see Teacher Iris, one of the talented DT members at Bad Girls who gave this week's class, and I made sure to tell her how tough this week's class assignment is, hahaha! (Homework I submitted for the first week of classes was my US page).

I checked out Iris' work and other galleries for ideas, and luckily, inspiration struck! I couldn't be happier! I set out to mix and match papers and photos into the wee hours of this morning and I will have to say, homework: check!

Supplies: PP: Basic Grey; FLOWERS: Prima; METALS: Making Memories (bookplate and brads), Creative Imaginations (spiral clip and brads); BLING: MME; STAMPS: Technique Tuesday and Autumn Leaves; INK: Colorbox, Stazon and Versa; OTHERS: paper-pieced dragonfly taken from a Brenda Walton envelope, transparency, lace and ricrac

Have a great week ahead!

alter this

I sent in an idea for an altered item to Scrappinmoms for it's September issue and got the go-ahead to give them the instructions. I felt that the design (Easter) of my altered bottle wasn't appropriate, so I decided to alter another bottle, more in keeping with the holiday season. While setting up my materials, my DD Nikki was quite the eager beaver and couldn't wait for me to get started - so I delegated all photography to her. I have had to re-do the bottle twice, but at least it turned out quite the way I envisioned it.

Needless to say, both my kiddos couldn't resist but ask for kisses, of the chocolate kind, of course, haha! They are definitely their mother's children! *wink*

Supplies: PP: CBX; CS: Bazzill and KMA; Mod Podge; Inkpad: Encore in gold; EP: Top Boss clear; ric-rac; ribbon; Die-cuts: QK and Sizzix; Stamp: EK Christmas

as the saying goes...

better late than never! Am glad I was able to make it to yet another PS EB even though I came late, as usual :) It was great to see new and familiar faces and of course, to do some shopping, chatting and eating! Never mind that we didn't get to do any scrapping, hahaha! Oh, but I'm equally glad that even though I came well after the lunch hour, I was still able to watch several scrapping divas in action! It sure was fun to learn new tricks and tips! Thanks for sharing ladies, can't wait to try them out!

Congrats and good luck to our latest entrepreneurs, Tin and Mia! Yummy, yummy kits! Will wait for your kit challenge announcements!

US

Am not letting go of this inspiration thingy! I actually should be working on several piles of documents for the school, but I can't seem to shake off the mojo! HAHAHA!!!

Merely rotating a sketch by Sunny Walls, I worked on another page yesterday. I decided to use some of my photos this time, as I haven't scrapped a page for myself in a while.

Journaling: I’ve been wanting to have a more up-to-date photo of Tubbyboy and me for the longest time, but the perfect opportunity to have one taken never presented itself. Until now. I seized the chance, never mind that we both need to lose a few pounds and inches here and there, haha! Manila Polo Club – 08.17.07

on a roll

Well, kinda. Since I got back into the groove of things (and I mean this in a totally scrap-related way), I was able to complete another page a few hours ago, upping my stat for this year to 80, yea!

I followed a sketch by Janell Richmond, and here's what I came up with:

Journaling: I was caught by surprise when Ian, who loves to have his photos taken, actually asked me to stop taking his photo :o 7.7.7

PS blogger challenge 5

OH NO!!! After reading about this month's challenge, I got stumped! Layering? Not for me! So I thought, oh boy, am I gonna be in deep s__t this time, for sure! YIKES! I tried to search high and low for a sketch that could work, and bless the internet, I managed to find just the one by Catherine Grand-Perret. Thank you, thank you, for saving my a__! :D

But surprise, surprise! I had fun doing this challenge - thank you, Cabbie! :)

Journaling: Put this boy in front of a TV and he will be quiet for hours on end. YIKES! 4/07

beauty

In the wee hours of this morning, as I was surfing through the different scrappy sites, I came across a sketch and I was instantly hooked! I couldn't sleep without creating a page at that instant; it didn't matter that it was 3ish and all that.

So, I went in search of the perfect photo to go with the beautiful sketch. I initially wanted to use one of Nikki's from November 2005, but I couldn't find the printed copies anywhere. I settled for another photo of her taken in April 2004 and here's what I came up with:

Supplies: PPs: Basic Grey Phoebe and Scarlet's Letter; CS: Bazzill for matting; Rub-ons: BG wholy cow hearts; Embellishments: Heidi Swapp flower, MME blings; Paint: MM

play time

I promised my mom I'd make Tita Rose a card to thank her for her pasalubong, so I took out my stamps and started to play! I had fun with this, although I was a bit disconcerted that I couldn't find the correct shade of green that I wanted. I didn't want to use the Versa inkpads that I had as I didn't want to stain my acrylics; oh, and those can really leave their mark! Ho, I am such an OC. In the end, I just settled for a generation stamp of SU's Old Olive.

I managed to put together the last (I think) of my holiday cards for this year. I couldn't decide which charm to use so I just picked both. Made 5 of these altogether. I mounted the mini cards on foam tape to make them pop up a bit.

PS blogger challenge 4

WOW! This page has been waiting to happen for the longest time! Notice the creased/bent edges of my CS? HAHA - that's because my supplies have been sitting out on the off chance that I might be able to work on them. Alas, I've been up to my neck with school work, I just could never find the time to scrap! :p Good thing, the school term's almost over, so I was able to sit down and put together everything I wanted to add to this page (which isn't much, actually. This took me less than 30 minutes to complete, methinks).

Journaling: Inspired by daddy's room rules for Ian, Nikki made her own set and posted it on her wall. I just had to take it coz it was too cute to pass up!

I've been keeping this Hello Kitty paper with Nikki's 'rules' for almost 2 years now, and am ever so glad PS challenged us to make use of an ephemera for this month.
Journaling Add-on (DD's 'rules' for her brother, verbatim)

1. don't calat
2. don't disturb
3. don't touch anything

goodies in the mail!

nothing like brown package envelopes on the counter to stop me dead in my tracks. sure enough, the stuff I've been waiting for finally arrived today :) I decided to have these sent directly to me for some instant gratification, haha!

My dad was gonna send out my box this weekend, but I asked him to wait until next week for the rest of the packages i'm having sent to his place. Yay! Can't wait for an early Christmas :) In the meantime, I'm off to play with these!

wishes do come true

*wink* I was just telling Tubbyboy about the bags I was lusting after, and lo and behold, this morning he handed me some cash towards the purchase of a bag! eeek! I decided to check them out again right away. However, at the last minute, I had a sudden change of heart and instead of getting the roller tote and/or the camera bag that I wanted, I got myself a cutie tote purse instead! :D Thanks, Tubbyboy!

ahhh - 2 days of 'unexpected vacation' due to a typhoon that hit Manila... 2 days of me time, sort of :) I was able to work on some more cards, purge my computer files (in preparation for my photoshop software), and of course, check some of my students' papers.

2 more designs x 5 each. Not bad for half a day's work, huh?

wishing...

for a Vituri roller tote (sigh). I know, I don't really need it right now - I have several bags which I am not able to use that often - and I can think of several other items I could buy with my money. Still, it doesn't hurt to dream, does it? *wink*

Hmmm... perhaps the camera bag will take care of the bug, you think? =)

getting a head start

Friday, 3 August, was declared a holiday for us - because our students had to be responsible citizens and register :) hmmm.... not sure if my students actually got to register as most of them are under the age of 17. oh well, a holiday is a holiday. I didn't particularly welcome it, though, as it meant we'd now have to extend classes to make up. At any rate, I was a bit inspired to sit down in front of my scrap table to work on some cards - never too early to start on these, right?

I managed to churn out 5 of each design... will try to work on more when I get the chance.

Supplies: Bazzill CS, Basic Grey pp, Hero Arts stamp, Colorbox ink, ribbon

note: I discovered (too late) that it's no good to be stamping on textured Bazzill - good thing I mistakenly bought a pack of non-textured Bazzill last year, so I was able to get better stamped images. Unfortunately, my stash of non-textured Bazzill is dwindling... I wonder where I might be able to buy some more as Sizzix.com no longer carries it, I think :(

a messy affair

I was tasked to write an article for the August edition of Scrappinmoms' Scrapbytes. It's all about using templates and stuff found within our homes, not for its intended purpose but, for scrapping! :o I was a bit apprehensive about tackling an article which is somewhat foreign to me, considering I find myself amassing SB tools left and right these days, HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Talk about a real challenge, huh? So, I kinda shelved Ria's email and went about my routine. When I did get around to sitting down and putting my thinking cap on, I was surprised to find how easy it was to put together a handful of suggestions as I then started to realize that I've actually managed to use household items on some of my pages ages ago. Cool!

For one particular tip, however, I couldn't very well explain the technique without actually having to produce a LO, and pronto!, as the article was due today. Well, then I thought I've been wanting to try the tip for the longest time anyways and last night was as good a time as any to do so.

So I set to work and I found it surprisingly easy and fun to do, albeit a bit messy, LOL! Thanks to Donna Downey and her fabulous tip (Simple Scrapbooks, Jan 2007), I now have a new page to speak of! =)

Supplies: Bazzill CS, MM acrylic paint, stamps (TT, Autumn Leaves, Heidi Swapp,7G), ink (Versa, Colorbox), and a toilet paper cardboard tube

Finally... a LO!

Thanks to the latest SE EB, I actually found myself completing a new page :) We were asked to work on a sketch by Becky Fleck
but as is my wont during these EBs, I found myself checking out other girls' work instead of actually sitting down and getting to work myself, LOL! So, well, during the EB, I only managed to cut out and put down the semi-circle piece of paper on my page ;o After that, I got sidetracked by work and couldn't get to the LO right away until, whew, a few hours ago! *wink* This page took me less than an hour to complete, and I must say, for someone who takes forever to put together a page, that is really a feat!

Supplies: Bazzill CS, 3BIAR & CBX PPs, Autumn Leaves and TT stamps, Versa ink, AC pen
Title: lifted from Ali Edwards

I've had the sudden realization that I now tend to favor the simple and the effortless pages. Hmmm.... so now what do I do with my stash of various embellishments? Haha! OK OK. Let's not be hasty and rush into anything here. I just might change my mind again a few months down the road!

Hope everyone has a relaxing, fun weekend!

GREAT! Just great!

I wasn't really decided about attending the SE EB today because I had to pick up my DD, Nikki, from ATC in the afternoon, as she had a party to go to) but in the end, I was won over by the fact that I also had to have my iPod battery changed and then to somehow manage to get the magazine I was buying from Ch. OK, now here's the thing... after meeting up with Babette to pick her up from The Legend Villas (she was riding with me to the EB) we drove along EDSA and I got a TICKET!!! for obstruction. UGH! No amount of cajoling worked with the traffic officer. Hmph! It wasn't so much the amount I had to pay (it isn't really much) but the fact that the officer wasn't so considerate at all! I didn't even obstruct the pedestrian lane for 5 seconds and already he wanted to punish me!!!!!! Drat! OK, I am a law-abiding citizen... but hey, I wish he cut me some slack! I mean, I didn't beat the red light and i didn't dare cross that yellow intersection marker - did that not account for anything? Hmph! I guess not, judging by the ticket in my purse!

I almost didn't get my iPod battery changed as the technician-in-charge was supposedly on leave, but as Babette and I turned to leave the shop, out of nowhere, I was told that there was somebody who could do it for me after all. Hmmm.... I wonder why? So Babette and I looked around while we were waiting, and then I happened to lay my eyes upon an external storage device I've been wanting to get and there went my $100! Haha!

We were just in time for lunch when we arrived at Mitch's place - we did a little shopping and yes, a little scrappin'. Thanks for dropping the magazine off, Ch! and thanks for keeping me company, Babette :) Too bad we had to leave just when Au and Nita arrived, but of course, I had to be a good mom and pick my DD up who was patiently waiting for me. Good thing I managed to get to ATC in a jiffy, as she's running a little fever right now :(

been busy

I had some photos printed out last week and I've been itching to scrap them since. Unfortunately, I just couldn't find the time! Ugh! Not wanting to let the elusive muse slip away, I decided to just sit down and put stuff together the moment I got the chance (Sunday and Monday evening).

This one is a scraplift of a page by Ali Edwards. Supplies: Bazzill CS, MME PP, 7G and MM stamps, Colorbox ink, AC pen

Here's another one based on a sketch by Sunny Walls. I submitted it to the BG gallery this morning and surprise, surprise! I got word this evening that it's been accepted! :)

food + fun

Yesterday, my brother, Vincent, celebrated his 34th birthday and my mom prepared more than enough food to feed a batallion! :o Unfortunately, I had to rush through lunch as I wanted to be able to join the PS EB. I made sure yaya fed the kids early as the EB demos were scheduled from 1pm onwards. Unfortunately, instead of the 1pm pickup time we agreed upon, husband didn't finish until 2pm which consequently caused me to miss the 1 demo I really wanted to see (stamping with bleach and the stippling technique) :( Oh well. At least I got Tubbyboy to drive for me and to babysit the kids, haha! Thanks, Tub! Sorry to hear that you are P1,500 poorer! :o

Good thing, I still managed to catch Mia and Alby's demos. It was my first EB with the PS people and I had a great time chatting with Babette, Cabbie and Au. I also had fun stamping with Lee (thanks for the private demo on re-inking, Au!) :) thanks to Ariel for volunteering to take our group photo and super-duper thanks to Tin, Mia, Lee and Donna for generously sharing their stamps, ink pads, baby wipes, and transparencies! Hmmm... yesterday I was thinking, we should do this again sometime soon! But now, I'm not too sure... that stamping session is making me want to add lots of stuff to my already growing stamp collection :o LOL!

May I just say how much I am loving Autumn Leaves right now :)

Their products rock. Can't wait to use the clear acrylics i bought recently.

One Fine Day

I would like to think that I am so into stamping these days, lol!, and couldn't wait to get to work on PS' current challenge using several of my new stamp acquisitions =) This page was inspired by one I saw in CK. I don't feel quite satisfied with how this page turned out.... but I guess I'll have to be content with it for now (READ: no time to scrap, lol!)

Journaling: It was the summer of 2007. Unfortunately, we were without any househelp and I didn't want the 2 of you out of my sight. As I was going about my chores, I chanced upon the both of you entertaining yourselves, blowing bubbles and watching as they were blown away, out of your reach, by the gentle breeze.

7.7.7

So, how'd you spend another popular date like today? I wasn't actually going to notice anything special about today until someone said something about it being such a unique date and that it'd probably be a good idea to take some photos just for fun. Hmmm, yeah. Another idea for a page =)

So, here's my attempt at documenting some events/activities/etc.
My messy scraptable - this is in need of so much attention which I simply can't give right now; my hands and legs are simply tied, lol! (read: my weekdays and weekends are fully booked!) Not to mention, I can't seem to find the space to squeeze my new stuff into *sigh*.

I eventually decided to join Babette at the SE Garage Sale just to trim my stash a bit. I was all set to go, but Ian complained of a toothache so I had to make a bit of a detour to BelAir. We didn't have an appointment so we had to wait until the dentist could attend to us.

Here's Nikki playing with her DS - earlier, I promised to take her to my sister's place so she could play with her cousins, but obviously, because of the change in plans, she had no choice but to wait until Ian was done. Thanks for waiting so patiently, babe.

Well, she and Ian did have some fun taking turns at filling Ian's water cup after discovering the dentist's control panel =)

The garage sale. Finally! I came at around 12nn and hastily set up what little stuff I brought. Thanks for offering to share your space with me, Babette :) Hmmm... what I recouped, I unfortunately had to spend! Ha! I was able to sell off 2 paper packs, a coluzzle alpha template, and an ink pad = P1,000, ka-ching! and eventually ended up buying an album, a stamp positioner and a wood monogram for P1,100! LOL! It was a fun day! :) I love selling stuff! Maybe I should've been a saleslady, lol lol lol!!!!!!! :D

justifying my expenses *wink*

I decided to make another card yesterday, just so I can say I am not letting my new stuff gather dust, haha! I'll be giving this to a friend who celebrated her birthday recently (yup, delayed birthday greetings)

Supplies/ materials: regular CS, ribbon from my stash, Magenta stamp, Versa ink, colored pencils, stickles (golden rod and frosted lace), Cuttlebug embossing folder
